“Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.”
Dear Apollo, we hope that Orientation 2018 has left you with lots of wonderful memories and stories to tell (like it did for us)!! We would love to share with you some of the unforgettable moments that happened during Orientation, and walk you through this incredible journey one last time.
Generations of Apollo students have went through orientation, and come out happier, sadder, exhausted, energised, but no one can deny that they had a lot of fun throughout this period. It’s a rite of passage every batch of students has to experience, yet every orientation is different. This year’s orientation was themed Enchante, and definitely was bullish time for Apollo.
Orientation for Apollo classes was nothing short of a whirlwind of fun and games and joy. There were icebreakers for everyone to get to know their new CT, and after that came the Amazing Race!
The next day, War Games!
Our brave bullboys and bullgirls fought against the might of Artemis, Ares, and Athena. We managed to hold our ground and and defend Apollo’s pride! It was a long, hot day of intense marching and launching projectiles into the trains of other faculties. Bravo, Apollo, for putting in your best! Most importantly, it was a fun time.
On campfire night, the wondrous efforts of our Apollo classes earned us the title of Sodache challenge winner!
But it was never an easy ride. Rumours began to spread that as long as a certain faculty held a title, it was not allowed to earn another. Our hopes for Post-Orientation Party (POP) champions seemed dashed.
Nevertheless, Apollo carried on, and not once did we ever give up on POP. As many of the C1s remember, we went through the 3 rules, the hot sun, the Apollo cakes along with the countless dancing and chanting. Your enthusiasm made us proud.
The night of POP rolled around. This was the night.
First went Ares, Artemis, Athena, then APOLLO. The best for the last! Countless of hours of dance practice came down to a few minutes in the central plaza.
After some Sodache, the winner was about to be announced.
Apollo was the winner of both POP and the Sodache challenge.
And for the first time in years, Apollo were double champions in orientation, cementing its place in history.
This could have never been achieved without the support and dedication of the entire faculty.
To the C1s, thank you for braving the hot sun, sacrificing your time and energy, coming for the numerous official and unofficial dance practices, to put on the greatest show that night.
To the C2s, thank you for showing your support amidst your busy schedules, coming down for Campfire night and POP night to show everyone what Apollo pride extends beyond your own orientation.
C2s showing their support
Yet from the start, this was never about the winning. Winning was only secondary. It was about having fun, creating a sense of family, and feeling the Apollo spirit. In the words of the dance ICs Charmaine and Sarita, “energy cannot be performed; it can only be felt”. The messages all of you have sent us have only made us feel comfort and accomplishment that the greatest thing to come out of that night was our Apollo pride.
“Annd also to ALLL the Apollo fac comms, APOLLO is the most lit faculty ever~ All those times I feel the faculty pride, when we got the Apollo cakes and drinks after POP prac, and other facs ask me where I got the drinks from, when I see the whole sea of lights lighting up the night during the practise(VERY CHIO), when I show others our Apollo memo pad, when we nail our performance at last(getting that perfect highfive thing at the pumping blood with my partner), and winning double champss!! All the POP, sodache, all the hype and feels I’ll nvr forget~
Another special thanks to CharmTham and Sarita(sorrryyy I spelt your names wrong) for alllll the time and effort and extra practises yall did with us!!! Staying with us and coaching us till 7+ and still thanking us for it wth???
Everything wouldn’t have been possible without yall and all these I mentioned I’m sure is only the tip of the iceberg of alllll your hard works so a BIG thankyou to all the faccoms and councillors please know that we really really really appreciate it! 💛💛💛”

The sun will never set on Apollo faculty. Even in the dark night of 21st February, the glorious lights cut through the blackness, never to be consumed. No matter what you face throughout the rest of JC, remember, all you have to do is look towards the light, and know that the light of Apollo will always guide you home.
Apollo Apollo Lives On.
